Danny Burton decides to leave his position at Iceland Seafood UK

Glen Mathews joining as Operations Director in February 2022. As announced on November 18th 2021 Danny Burton has stepped down from the Managing Directors position of IS UK and is currently focused on improving and expanding production capabilities.  With Glen Mathews joining as Operations Director in February 2022 and further strengthening of IS UK’s Operations team early next year, Danny Burton has now decided to leave his position at Iceland Seafood UK (IS UK) at end of this year.

Danny has worked in the seafood production sector for more than 40 years, has built up businesses in various management positions, servicing both retail and foodservice customers.  He partnered up with Iceland Seafood in 2012, with the setup of the joint venture Havelok Ltd, which developed into a leading entity in the coated whitefish segment of the UK foodservice market.  Since March 2020 Danny has been in a key role when comes to merging and integrating Iceland Seafood’s Barraclough and Havelok’s operations.  The merger was completed at end of 2020, when transfer of operations of the two entities to IS UK´s new production facility in Grimsby was completed.  The integration process has been more complex and difficult than anticipated, but additional business with both new and current customers and better utilization of the production facility should balance the business.

Bjarni Ármannsson, CEO.

“It has been a great pleasure to work with Danny Burton for the last few years.  Danny and Iceland Seafood’s partnership has now lasted for almost 10 years.  After the successful Havelok joint venture, Danny took on the challenging role of leading the refurbishment of our new site in Grimsby in 2020.  He did that very well during exceptionally difficult times, impacted by both Covid19 and with Brexit creating strong headwinds.  At the same time as wishing him well and thanking him for his service, we look forward to welcoming Glen Mathews on board, who we are confident will be a great asset for the IS UK business”
